Phi phi island is one of the islands in the Phuket area. The nearest airport is Phuket International Airport (HKT). It said that Phuket international airport is the second busiest airport in Thailand. We arrived in Phuket using Txxxr Air from Singapore. There are many money changer in the airport if you need one. From Phuket airport to Phuket city, there are many option of minivan to specific location. For example minivan from airport to Patong beach is about 180-200 THB per person. Using minivan is one of the transportation alternative that is cheap and easy to get. One minivan can carry about 6 passengers. The limitation is that the driver will drop the passenger at certain location, so sometime if you are unlucky, the driver might drop you the last. But if you are not in hurry, why not? The other alternative of transportation is using taxi. If you travel with 2-3 other people, taxi will cost the same as minivan. We took taxi from airport to Rassada pier for 700 THB and from Patong beach to airport for 1000 THB.
To go from airport to phi phi island, we took taxi to Rassada pier. Rassada pier is main pier that located in Phuket island and connecting Phuket to the surrounding islands. Rassada pier is about 32 km from Phuket airport and took about 45 min by taxi. With some bargaining skills in the airport, we manage to get taxi for 700 THB and boat from Rassada pier to Tonsai pier (Koh Phi Phi) for 750 baht (return per person).
Even though Rassada pier is the main pier here, the pier itself is quite small. Only few small shops and also available ferry ticket counter. Not sure how much is the ferry ticket over there. The ferry took about 2 h and departure time from Rassada pier are at: 8:30; 11:00; 11:30; 13:30; and 15:00.
The speedboat was nice, 2 level seating area and empty deck above. Many people just seat outside on the floor and enjoying the breeze while having extravaganza view.
Once you enter phi phi island, you need to pay the entry ticket which is 20 THB per person. Our hotel were located on the other side of the island, so we need to take the small boat (traditional boat, long tail boat) to get to the hotel from Tonsai pier.
When you need to take boat to hotel, get ready to get you feet wet, cause there is no pier in the hotel. Prefer not to have suitcase but backpack with you.
Our hotel was nice. They have their own restaurant and just right in front of the hotel, you can see the beautiful coral and fishes.
No need to rent snorkeling equipment, no need to make your body wet, just dip your feet, and you can see these beautiful sea creature.
Other than looking at this amazing creature, you can also just relaxing and enjoying the beach
